Kouros is tackling not only our One Million Steps Challenge but also the Wellness Walk London Bridges event on September 29th as he continues to raise money for us.

The couple were surprised when a routine visit to the GP led to a diabetes diagnosis. Lisa had always been fit and healthy and had no symptoms or they were very mild. She was put on insulin straight away.

Graham said that when he was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes he had no apparent symptoms, but type 2 diabetes was identified during a medical examination for the Railway Track Access Safety Certification when he worked as training consultant.

Paul, 40, is a self-employed plumber who lives with type 1 diabetes as does his father and son, Archie, who is 6 years old. The Sycamores also have two other children, Sienna and Ruby. He said:

Emma said: “The cake sale was a huge success and we are extremely grateful for all the support received. Since Archie has been diagnosed, we have a team of supporters known as Team Archie. They are friends and family that help keep us going on the tough days.

The Living with Diabetes Workshop is a morning virtual session running from 9.30am to 11.45. It will offer key information to support people to manage their condition well.

They were chosen for the Diabetes UK Good Diabetes Care in School Award 2020 because of the support they provide to students with the condition, the help they offer to manage their diabetes safely, and the care taken to include them in all school activities. 

Team Hoop Freakz (pictured) is made up of nine-year-old Lil Joshua and 12-year-olds Manvir and Zandro. Manvir lives with type 1 diabetes and along with his teammates, is aiming to compete in the Ball Out 3x3 National Tour – the UK’s biggest 3x3 basketball tournament.

Kouros Majidi, 52, is committed to getting as fit as possible after pandemic restrictions saw his exercise regime affected.

Christine Deal, secretary of the Diabetes UK Chelmsford and District Local Group, will take on the thrilling feat on 19 July which is just over 50 years to the date of her diagnosis.
