Our supporters are always an inspiration – and this summer Cambridge’s Kouros Alexander Majidi is doubling up on his fundraising commitments.
Kouros is tackling not only our One Million Steps Challenge but also the Wellness Walk London Bridges event on September 29th as he continues to raise money for us.
A 55-year-old a retired photographic technician, Kouros been inspired to take on the walks because he lives with type 2 diabetes and wants to help stay fit as well as help fund further research into the condition.
And these are far from his first forays into fundraising. He’s completed the One Million Steps Challenge three times, undertaken a Thames Path walk and completed two previous Wellness Walks.
“I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes 10 years ago and took up walking to help me manage my diabetes around four years ago. I like to have a challenge and something to aim for as well as raising funds for a good cause," he said.
Peter Shorrick, Head of Diabetes UK Midlands and East region, said:
"It’s wonderful to see supporters like Kouros going above and beyond to raise money and help us fund vital research to improve the lives of those living with diabetes."
The One Million Steps Challenge - to walk 1,000,000 steps in three months - started on July 1 and will run until the end of September, and Kouros will be putting in the miles in his local area.
You can support Kouros on his fundraising page. And you can sign up now for Wellness Walk London Bridges.
