Who is the community for?
The Diabetes Leadership Community is for health and care professionals and others in the NHS who want to make a difference in the diabetes system. Members of all levels of experience are welcome.
We particularly encourage past participants of Discovering Leadership and Clinical Champions to join the Community as a place to continue to developing and utilising your leadership skills.
Community Contract
What the community expects of membersÂ
Members get more from a community they engage in and to enable everyone's full participation, we ask that you embrace the following values:
- Be willing and open to sharing ideas, knowledge, experience and feedback
- Prioritise the needs of people living with diabetes, especially those who are most disadvantaged
- Invite diverse perspectives and listen actively. Challenge and debate are encouraged as long as this is done respectfully and participants enter with a willingness to see things differently
- Share learning outside of the community in the spirit of generosity so that together we can achieve spread and scale for the best ideas and practiceÂ
- Commit to your own learning and development by trying new things and being open to new ways of working.Â
- In the service of fellow community members, be present and engaged when committing to a session or activity. Â
Areas of focus
The Community has identified several key areas of focus that align with the priorities in our strategy and are vital for achieving better outcomes for people living with diabetes. Sessions and events will be designed around these topics and we invite the community of leaders to collaborate with us on tackling these challenges.
