Teaching assistant Jean is proud that she and other staff are all trained to give injections.
Just writing to tell you that I and another teaching assistant support a pupil in year three with Type 1 diabetes and he also has a pump. We monitor his blood three times a day and he sorts out his own pump.
We have had training on the maintenance of his pump in case of emergencies. We support him on school trips and it all works out fine. When he first joined the school in foundation stage, he had to be given insulin via injection.
Any staff that are in his classes or with him at lunchtime have been trained. It all works perfectly.
