Roy Izatt, 66, a Scot living in Southborough, Kent, has been Type 2 insulin-dependent since he was 38.
He is now retired from business having served 17 years at sea on ships ranging from 600 tons to 300,000 ton supertankers culminating with five years in command as a prelude to marine project management with a major oil and gas company then finally as an independent marine consultant.
As shown in these pictures, he now enjoys retirement by “playing with his toys” in turning out when called as a Southeast4x4Responsedriver where he helps the police and his local community during bad weather, flooding or with Kent search and rescue activities. Roy is also a Diabetes UK volunteer and has recently served on the National Diabetes Audit Partnership Board.
