Amelie and Albie are five year old twins who both have Type 1. They were photographed at home in South Manchester where their mum Jude looks after them. They don't currently use pumps, but hope to at some point in the future.
Amelie and Albie were both diagnosed before their third birthday so they don't remember life without Type 1. It is so much part of their lives that they know that they never eat without first having their blood glucose tested. We test every two hours and inject for every meal.
Sometimes the needles hurt so much they say 'I wish I didn't have diabetes' and then on the flip side Albie recently said 'I don't want the doctors to find a cure because I always want to be special and brave.' They love swimming and tennis and Albie is obsessed with football and Mancester City! Type 1 will not stop them from doing anything.
