GP and LTC and Dementia Lead, Colliers Wood Surgery & Merton CCG

Dr Ahmad has been a GP in Colliers Wood for the past 15 years and is the Clinical Director of Diabetes and Dementia for Merton CCG in South London.

As a Clinical Champion, Farooq has organised a training needs analysis of clinicians in his local CCG and is also in the process of setting up a pathway of services and a clear and simple medication algorithm for Diabetes for Merton clinicians. He is also keen to improve the recorded prevalence of Diabetes in his CCG through improving awareness of diabetes in the local population. Farooq supported Diabetes UK by piloting the implementation of information prescriptions in his surgery and continues to work closely with the Health Improvement Network for South London on a hypo pathway redesign and structured education for people with diabetes from BME groups.
