Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust
Dr Piya has recently been appointed as a Consultant in Diabetes and Endocrinology at Derby Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. He works closely with Diabetes UK and is a previous chair of the YDEF committee.
As a Clinical Champion Milan has worked closely with local dietitians and specialist nurses to ensure patient education is a priority for his local CCG and that the levels of uptake improve. Milan has also contributed to the improvement of inpatient care in his local trust. A consultant or specialist registrar will now be available for two hours each day to support the specialist nursing team with any referrals and also to pro-actively seek any patients with diabetes that need specialist input in the acute medically admissions and short-stay wards.
