T1DRA: Type 1 Diabetes Risk in Adults

More than half of type 1 diabetes is diagnosed in adults but very little is known about how the condition develops. Researchers at the University of Bristol are conducting a study testing blood samples in the UK general population to assess people's risk of developing type 1 diabetes.

To take part people must:
•    be living in the United Kingdom
•    be aged between 18 and 70 years.

And must:
•    not have a diagnosis of type 1 diabetes
•    not be taking blood thinning medication
•    not be immunocompromised.

The study aims to find out how many adults in the UK are at increased risk of developing type 1 diabetes and to understand more about immune changes before symptoms appear.
Adults identified in the study as at increased risk will be offered access to information about the symptoms of type 1 diabetes, its management and clinical trial opportunities testing new type 1 therapies.
Taking part is free and involves filling out a consent survey to sign up, completing the test at home, and posting it back using the prepaid packaging.
