Researchers from Lancaster and Keele Universities are recruiting people aged 18 and over with any type of diabetes-related peripheral neuropathy (nerve pain in the feet and hands caused by diabetes) to participate in a research study.
Smart pressure sensing technology gives feedback about pressure under the foot, which can help reduce the risk of ulcers. This research involves understanding people's experience of using these smart devices, supported by a health behaviour tool. There are two smart insole devices and one smart sock, which all link to apps that tell the wearer about the pressure under their feet.
Taking part involves an initial screening and induction clinic visit, and visits to receive and return the three devices. You will wear each device for three weeks and be asked to complete questionnaires and attend brief interviews to share your experience.
Compatible smartphones, and footwear, will be provided if needed. Reasonable travel expenses will be reimbursed to any of the research sites in Leeds, Manchester (Metropolitan University), Keele (University) and Lancaster (University).
