In particular, for those who have failed to lose weight through diet and lifestyle changes and those for whom pharmacological inteventions have failed, thus putting them at greater health risks. This includes expediting assessment for bariatric surgery in recent onset Type 2 diabetes.
The NICE recommendations on bariatric surgery, were updated and published in 2014 (CG189). This update now supports what Diabetes UK were previously calling for, including specific recommendation for those from the Asian community.
