Predicting and preventing diabetes related cardiometabolic diseases and complications: Reviews of current evidence, guidelines and recommendations for early detection and management of heart, liver and kidney disease

Diabetes related cardiometabolic diseases and complications as well as multiple morbidity pose a huge burden to people living with these conditions, health services and society in general. Over the past 2 decades, the case for judicious and proactive screening for diabetes related diseases has been significantly strengthened with the introduction of evidence-based effective treatments that treat diabetes as well as simultaneously treating or preventing these related conditions. Similarly, the case for multidisciplinary working with combined ‘multiple-specialty’ clinics for diabetes and related conditions has grown with evidence showing they can be dually clinically and cost-effective. This session will hear from experts in heart, liver and kidney disease who will firstly review clinical guidelines and the latest evidence in their fields and will also share their recommendations for multidisciplinary working with diabetes healthcare professionals in the clinical practice.
