National Diabetes Audit: Understand your data

Let us help you understand your data. Come and meet the Diabetes UK National Diabetes Audit Team on the Diabetes UK stand.

The National Diabetes Audit (NDA) is a major national clinical audit, which measures the effectiveness of diabetes healthcare against NICE Clinical Guidelines and NICE Quality Standards, in England and Wales. The NDA is delivered by NHS England, in partnership with Diabetes UK. It collects and analyses data and produces reports for a range of stakeholders to use to drive changes and improve the quality of services and health outcomes for people with diabetes.

The NDA includes four distinct areas of diabetes care, treatment and outcome. Further information can be found on the NHS England website, using the links below:

  • National Diabetes Core Audit (NDA): This audit of primary care and diabetes specialist services includes reports on care processes and treatment targets, complications and mortality, type 1 diabetes, young people with type 2 diabetes, adolescents & young adults and non-diabetic hyperglycaemia / Diabetes Prevention Programme.
  • National Diabetes Inpatient Safety Audit (NDISA): This audit captures 4 harms that can occur to inpatients with diabetes and seeks to measure the standards of inpatient diabetic care in England and Wales, by NHS acute and community healthcare providers, against the Get It Right First Time (GIRFT) standards.
  • National Pregnancy in Diabetes (NPID) Audit: This audit examines antenatal services for women with pre-gestational diabetes.
  • National Diabetes Footcare Audit (NDFA): This audit collects data about specialist foot care services for people with diabetes.
