We Are Undefeatable is back with a brand new TV advert featuring four new storytellers including Simon - pictured - who has lived with type 1 diabetes for 53 years.
We Are Undefeatable is a national campaign and movement to support and inspire people with long-term health conditions to be active. It features the real-life experiences of people with long-term health conditions, including diabetes, and aims to support people to build physical activity into their lives in a way that works for them.
We’ve been proud to be involved since We Are Undefeatable first launched in 2019. The campaign is led by 15 of the major health and social care charities and backed by expertise, insight and significant National Lottery funding from Sport England.
Why is the campaign important?
We know from national surveys undertaken by Sport England that people living with long-term health conditions like diabetes, cancer and arthritis are less likely to be active. But research commissioned as part of the We Are Undefeatable campaign suggests that the majority of people living with long-term health conditions want to move more and know the health benefits it could have. And in the latest survey, 67% of people said that they felt in a better mood after being active.
Being physically active is good for diabetes. Whether you feel able to go for a run or a swim, or can manage some arm stretches or on-the-spot walking while the kettle boils, it all makes a difference.
What is the latest campaign?
The latest campaign features Simon and three other storytellers. Simon has experienced diabetes complications and in the last few years had both lower legs amputated. However he’s still extremely positive and an avid table-tennis player, and realises how important it is for both his physical and mental health. You can see the advert on our social channels, and watch more of Simon’s story in the video above.
