Here, at Diabetes UK Northern Ireland, we're excited to announce the appointment of Tina McCrossan as our National Director. Tina will be based in the our offices in Lisburn and brings with her a wealth of experience and knowledge of the charity and health sectors.
Tina, pictured, joins us an important time as latest figures indicate that there are now nearly 100,000 people diagnosed with diabetes in Northern Ireland, 90% of whom have type 2 diabetes. In addition, there are 12,621 more people living with type 2 diabetes who don’t know they have it because they haven’t been diagnosed yet, bringing the total number up to 112,454.
Diabetes UK Chief Executive, Chris Askew, said, “We are delighted to have Tina lead our team in Northern Ireland — she will bring valuable expertise to help people with diabetes in the local community receive the care and support they need. She will continue our work with the Diabetes Network to ensure we are raising awareness and delivering for those living with the condition.”
Speaking about taking up the post, Tina said: Diabetes UK is the leading diabetes charity in Northern Ireland and I am really excited about taking on this role with a charity that is so passionate about helping people.
As the growing number of people living with this complex and demanding condition continues to grow year on year, there is much for us still to do. I am looking forward to representing people living with diabetes in Northern Ireland and will work to ensure our collective voice is heard to improve outcomes and make positive change happen.” Tina McCrossan
