A charity gig hosted by comedian and actor Jack Whitehall has raised over £40,000 in aid of Diabetes UK.
The sell-out gig, which took place in December 2022 at the Savoy Theatre, was inspired by Jack’s girlfriend, model and Diabetes UK ambassador, Roxy Horner.
Since Roxy was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes in May 2021, she has supported us to help raise awareness of what it’s like to live with the condition.
‘Jack Whitehall and Friends’ raised vital funds to campaign for and supporting everyone affected by type 1 diabetes, as well as funding research that will one day lead to a cure.
Jack was joined on stage by some of the UK’s top comedians, including Alan Carr, Jimmy Carr and Russell Howard.
Jack said:
“I’d like to thank everyone who ventured out on a cold December night and bought tickets. This has helped raise more than £40,000 for Diabetes UK, a cause close to our hearts. Roxy and I are really pleased that the money raised will go directly to help improve the lives of people living with diabetes, and their families.”
Roxy said:
“I would like to thank everyone who performed, and all those who bought tickets. I am thrilled that we have managed to raise this money which I know will help people like myself who live with this condition.”
Chris Askew OBE, Chief Executive of Diabetes UK, said:
“Everyone at the charity is very grateful to Roxy for inspiring this special night, and to Jack for assembling such an incredible line-up of the country’s top comedians which sold out such a prestigious venue.
“The huge sum of money raised on this unforgettable evening will make a big difference to our work helping people affected by, and living with, diabetes.”
