People in Bangor are invited to join the Live Well Hub to learn about diabetes and connect with others in the local community on Tuesday 17 May.
Diabetes UK Northern Ireland is hosting the Live Well Hub which is a one stop shop providing information, advice and support to help improve the health and wellbeing of the community. It is open to anyone interested in learning more about diabetes, how to make positive lifestyle changes living with the condition and to those who are worried about their risk.
Heather Causer, Community Engagement Manager at Diabetes UK Northern Ireland, said, ‘
We are so excited to host our Live Well Hub in partnership with the Bangor Community Hub and look forward to talking about diabetes and how we can help people living with this relentless condition. If you are interested in diabetes, live with the condition or care for someone who does, then come along to speak to us and our guest speaker who is a Diabetes Specialist Nurse.’
There are currently over 104,000 people living with diabetes in Northern Ireland and approximately 90% of those are living with type 2 diabetes. It is a relentless condition and if not managed well, both type 1 and type 2 diabetes can lead to devastating complications.
Heather continued, ‘We are offering a relaxed, informal session to learn more about diabetes and you can ask questions that you might not have had the chance to ask at your routine appointments. We will provide support, resources, information on mental health and wellbeing, as well as health MOTs and nutritional advice. So, come along and we will look forward to seeing you!’
The Live Well Hub is free to attend, you don’t need to register and there will be refreshments available.
Join us on Tuesday 17 May, 10-12pm at the NDCN Wellbeing Centre, at the bottom of Main Street Bangor.
